This one day workshop will focus on improving your understanding of the commonly prescribed neuroleptic and over-the-counter medications and their effects on the brain. You will learn about the classification of mind/mood altering medication for mood disorders, anxiety, mood stabilisation, psychosis, and hypnotics. The day will include discussion around the ‘medication vs talking therapies’ debate.

This one day course aims to provide an overview of how to work safely and confidently with clients presenting with suicidal ideation and/or self-harming behaviours, and considering the risk factors and warning signals that may help us to identify a person who is harming themselves or thinking of suicide. You will develop an understanding of the different ways of helping and supporting individuals in crisis, as well as an understanding of when and how to seek support for yourself.
